So, I'm planning on going to muddy bottom pay & play this Sunday but it seems I need a rear recovery point.

Shackles have been mentioned and I have these attached to my winch bumper at the front but the rear doesn't have a bumper as such and I can't see anywhere obvious to fix anything to.

Can anyone advise where / how I'm meant to attach shackles or some sort of rear recovery point to a 1985 LR90?

This is how the rear of my landy looks at the moment:

I'm hoping that I will be able to pop down to Keith Gott's in Alton and pick up whatever I need on Saturday morning as I live in Hindhead which is not too far away...

Forgive my ignorance but I'm not even sure that the "tie down eyelet thingies" that you refer to are :(

Do you mean the two holes on the back bumper bar that are used for the high lift jack?

Have a look on the chassis behind the back wheels, you should see a couple of (almost) teardrop shaped things bolted on;) :D

Here you go. the d shaped ring dangling down at the back are Jate rings

Can't recover off them though. He needs to buy a pair of jate rings. His 1st post was asking what he needs ter buy.

Ah thought he was on about where tae mount them Red! Ah know ye can't recover from these, but it was just tae show him where the shackles would go:rolleyes: ;) :D

Holes are already there. the rings were originally designed to allow Landies to be slung underneath an helicopter. and that's where the back ones were fitted.

He int got a towhitch fitted and no he can't use the bloody handles on the back!! Mainly cos he int got any fitted.

Well, following a quick look at the landy this morning, I can happily fit a Jate Ring on the left hand side - the holes are there and OK.

On the right hand side, it's a different story. The chassis has been plated on the outside so there is no hole and on the inside where it hasn't been plated I've managed to dig a hole big enough to get my hand in where the rot had set in. Looks like I'll need to have some welding done there before trying to fit any recovery point, otherwise I'm going to end up pulling the back of the beast off!

Is it possible to recover with just a single point (albeit sub-optimal)?

Maybe otherwise fitting a tow hitch (for which I already have holes but because of the 3 inch lift they are too high to be useful for towing) would be the next option until I get the chassis welding sorted out.

If you fit a towhitch get a ball and pin not just a ball. but remember the rear cross member is only attached to the rear chassis. If the chassis is rotten and you have to be recovered there is a chance you;ll pull the whole rear crossmember off.
