Can't find quite what I'm looking for, really need help :(

My rear central locking wasn't working so I took the module thing out (central locking actuator, latch assy, whatever you call it), cleaned it up a bit and re-installed.

Previously, it would lock but not unlock. I plugged it in before I put it back into the door and found it was the same as before - I had no option than to reassemble everything though as I use the car daily and don't have a replacement.

To cut a long story short, it locked but won't unlock even with the inside handle :( I may have knocked the child lock on or maybe I've knackered the lock altogether somehow, I don't know.

I'm happy to buy a replacement latch but obviously I'll need to open the door to replace it, any idea how to get the door open?

take off the LR badge and spray a good amount of WD40 inside then lock/unlock a few times while you jiggle the outside handle too

that just sorts a seized outside handle though doesn't it? that's fine, the trouble is the door's closed and locked and I've no way of unlocking it (that I know of).

no it's not just for the handle, it releases the mechanism...mine did the same as yours, i couldnt open it from inside neither and that trick made it to unlock with the fob... worth a try anyway

I'll give it a go, I gave it all a good oiling when I had it out though so can't say I'm holding my breath, can you get at much of the lock through there?

Door card's already off by the way

Thanks for the help so far guys

Using the how too pic the child lock is behind the silver plate on the right edge

child lock just thought if you pull in the inside handle and the rodd slides all the way along then the child lock is on if it stops half way along the rail on the right it is off..

Picture is very different to mine (is it a d1? Mine's a d2). Lifting the button or what it opporates doesn't work, I don't know if it would work with the child lock on or not though?

The child lock is just a possibility though, it might be stuck for some other reason yet

:nopics: without seeing what it's like it's guessing and trying

Any clips or rods fallen down inside the door?

It opened!! Not sure how I did it, lots of messing about with bits of welding wire and alsorts but didn't seem to be getting anywhere when I knocked something (no idea what) that moved with a familiar clunk, tried the handle and jobs a good un!

New lock fitted and working fine.

Thanks for trying to help everyone, sorry I can't post a solution to help others though - all I can say is whatever I knocked was in with all the other levers on the assembly itself.
