Evening all

On me old 90 I have got a rear drum axle. I have re built the rear drums and a fellow off roader thinks I am mad doing this as he says and other they are CRAP off road. Are they that bad?

I can see a problem granted they can fill with water but they only have 15% of over all breaking as the front disks taking the 85% of over all breaking.. the surface area that a break shoe has compared to a pair of pads?

What do you think

a well services rear drum brake works very very well. i done all mine on my old 90 and the difference was amazing. worth a shot for the cost of 2 cylinders and a full set of shoes compared with the price of rear calipers and pads.

I have been told horror story of pedal fade and pedal vanishing to the floor when the vehicle has been wading or in mud!!

I've been of roading for about 30 years with drums front and rear, and I wouldn't call them crap. They can need a high level of maintenance though, although it depends where you go. Hampshire mud did not mix well with them, N Wales mud does not seem to be as destructive.

what is every ones problem?

Who do you want to ban?

Thank you all for sensible replys
