Hello everyone,

Today I removed the headliner.
Everything went smoothly.

Nevertheless, I have the following questions:

- How do I remove the sun visor? Do I have to unscrew the entire lower panel, or is there a trick to pulling it out?

- I always had a microphone stuck on the driver's side – now I could see where the cable goes. I just want to know if this microphone is original? If not, I will remove it.

Didn't do the sunroof panel when I did my headlining - it wasn't sagging or dirty. I suspect the sunroof mechanism needs to be lowered - wait for a few dry days !!

That microphone is not standard but is most likely for a mobile phone hands free kit.

Found the answer. Sunroof Shade is in RAVE. amazing what's in the manuel !!

They are bloody heavy I know that!
I would remove the whole cassette, easy enough but, again, very heavy. I've read of people using a ratchet strap through the doors and over the roof but I had 2 pairs of hands on the job. If you remove it there is a foam strip running all round the edge which compresses against the roof skin, this deteriorates allowing rain water into the car so I discovered, it acts as a water shedder, easy enough to renew with some closed cell strip I got off ebay and some contact adhesive. When I replaced the cassette I used 6 lengths of m6 stud to help guide it into place so the foam strip didn't get ragged about. It's difficult to hold it up and try to enlign the bolt holes otherwise. I'll get you the spec of the foam strip if you go ahead.

Also whilst you've got it all apart, blow some compressed air, or gently push a long bottle brush (or something) down the rainwater pipes at the corners of the casette in case they're dirty/blocked. You have excellemnt access with it all apart.

That sunroof casette will be brittle, don't force anything, there are little spring clips and end stops in the track that the shade runs in that can break very easily. Ask me how I know!

I found a good video here. It starts at 3:50.


It seems to be solvable. I'll let you know.

Then I'll remove the microphone. I still have the phone on the side – this microphone was probably added later. But I don't want it.

Oh, once I've removed everything, can I pump high-pressure water into the four pipes to see if the drains are working properly?
