Hiya Frosty - Doesn't the Kseal stuff need to be used without antifreeze? Then once sealed, drain out water and refill with water/antifreeze mix? Or was that some other stuff?
Either way, my last RR 4.6 suffered with coolant loss and presurising hoses, but didn't overheat. Like you, I understood the implications, and attempted short term repairs. I can't remember which sealer I tried (it was one of the copper bits with glass technology types), but it didn't work, I ended up changing the block, a brand new short motor from RPI. On examination after removal, one cyliner in the block appeard as if it had been steam cleaned. You could just about feel the liner had dropped with a fingernail across the top of the block, but wouldn't have been able to measure it. There was no tappity noise, I doubt very much that the liner was moving up and down.
Lets hope that the only problem with yours was a failed water pump, but the presence of copper flakes could probably indicate a more serious problem prior to your ownership.......
