lt230b if I remember correctly thinner gears and oil upgrade and no cross drilled gear- james martin will know more on 3.5 v8
 
There was an official PTO for the RRC. I'll look up the part no and years applicable later. I just missed one on ebay a few years back.
 
Never heard of one plus I've got the original maker's sales literature for mid-eighties 2 / 4 door & Vogue models that detail just about every feature & there's nothing about a PTO

I'll see your sales literature and raise you one parts diagram from Microcat. Please note the header which says RRC MY1986 - MY1991

Its always a good day when you learn something new. I believe these were originally made for the 101 FC which used the RR running gear, although the blanking plate was still present in my 92 RRC with a borg warner box. I think they stayed as an option for Scandanavian countries for a snow blower or something. Like I said above, I just missed out on one from Norway on ebay a few years ago.

I don't know James, it was along time ago and I'm not saying it came off a borg warner, I just remember looking under mine to see where it would go before I bid and believing it would fit my 1992. I could easily have been wrong, that was early in my journey as an RR owner and I made lots of mistakes when buying bits.

But it definitely was available for and fitted to pre Borg RRC. There are threads on here of guys with one fitted to Disco 1's which prove that.

Just had a look at RAVE for the Disco 1 and Defender, both have a 'PTO cover plate joint' on the back of the Transfer box. The Borg Warner does not so looks like that sorts that.
 
the lt95(4 speed, also fitted to fc101)had the option of one...cant comment on the lt230,but an pretty sure there is one for that to.

Agreed!!

I have the sales and accessory bumf for the P38, it makes for a nice reference doc for specs and such.

If you're interested I have a scan of a road test of the original RRC from Motoring Which 1972, makes for interesting reading. They did proper roads tests back then, kept the car for months not days. They tested it so hard off road that they bent the axles :eek: :eek:
