trying to find the source of a knocking sound in engine bay thats intermitent and found that there is a few mm play in the alternator back and forth on the bearing is this normal? if not does tightening the nut sort it or is it replacement time

if theres movement in the shaft you need another alternator nut only holds pulley tight

60 quid from island 4x4.
Rebuild kits for the a127 alt are on e bay for about 20 quid
