The clutch failed this week and I assume it is the roll pins in the mechanism failed again. Almost to the week they failed last year. So my initial thoughts was to ring the breakers but have had it towed to a flat car park and will tackle it again. But whilst researching whether to do something else came across the term spiral pin and it seems these are what I should have used rather than roll pins?

So I have ordered some of these:

I am open to opinion as to whether to use these is a good idea or not.

Also if anybody wants to pop across to Jersey for a few days and spend a couple of the days on their back bending spanners, I can offer free board and lodging........

Flights?

I would use the stronger pins and inset something steel down the middle as well.

That's what I did. I used the shaft of an old pop-rivet up the inside of the new pins. That must have been about 3 years ago.

Looks like Easyjet fly there. FlyBe fly there too. Pity I'm almost out of leave.

Yes, spiral pins. Just get the Land Rover ones. I got original and they were still only about a quid. IIRC the hole they go in is tapered so they go in like a little cone. Might be mistaken as it has been a while now. Either way, the shaft of a pop rivet with a little grinding will bang up the centre with appropriate encouragement from a small hammer.
