Hello everyone,

I’m having an issue with the passenger window on my Land Rover Disco 1 '95 3.9 V8, it’s the only window that’s not working. I took it to an electrician who checked the fuses (they’re fine), he also tested the motor directly and it works when powered manually. So the motor isn’t the issue.
He suspects a blown relay but wasn’t sure where it is and recommended I take it to a Land Rover specialist.

Has anyone encountered this before? Do you know what might be causing the issue, and whether it’s something I could fix myself?
I’d really appreciate any advice!

Hello, It’s a left-hand drive LHD with automatic transmission. My knowledge of electrics is minimal, but I’d like to go back to the same mechanic and tell him that others have suggested specific things to check and fix.

Unfortunately, all the Land Rover specialists I’ve contacted in Athens are unavailable because it’s August, and most people are away on vacation or they are fixing the last cars.

On top of that, I have no working AC, and we’re dealing with a heat wave. When I use the AC, it leaks water into the passenger footwell. It also doesn't blow air as strongly as it used to, and the air smells really bad. I’ve been told that the ‘95 Discovery 1 doesn’t have a cabin AC filter, if you can confirm if that’s true? If not, is there a way I can clean it or improve the air quality Lastly, when I run the AC for more than 40 minutes, it stops blowing entirely and I have to turn the it off and on again to get it working.

Your AC seems low on gas and has a drain tube clogged, as about the window, as long as it works with direct power to the motor and all the other windows are working means that the problem is on that particular circuit starting from the switch, common issue is that the wiring used to be chafed where it passes between the B post and the door, i attach the relevant part of the diagram, the eletrician must check if there is power at the RHR window swicth/C340 pins 3, 5 against pin 4 earth, from there it goes through the door's window switch to the motor, a skilled electrician must know what to do based on the diagrams i attached so find one who does.

Another very common problem on the D1 is the circuit board - green in colour and housed in a black box - normally under the cubby hole but you have a funny steering wheel position

On normal RHD cars it is mounted horizontally and there are two sets of wires plugging in and each wire set is probably 10 or 12 strong

Generally a wiggle and a waggle on those ingoing wires and the connectors will sort it for a while

Sorry, just realised that it's the front passenger window and my last reply and attacchments were for the rear, here is for front which is a bit different as the motor is powered direcly by the ECU so check if there is power across pins H - G of C288 when the switch is operated, if it is the problem is between that and the motor provided there is power to the switch too
