Well finally got some me time

so off came the back bumper and out came the multi meter tested the sensor wiring harness and yippee found a duff wire. So bared the wire about 2ins from sensor plug and same at the other end at multi plug behind rear lamp and tested both plugs to make sure fault wasn’t in either, both ok, cut out bad section of wire and soldered in a new piece, plugged everything back in and hey presto all back working.
I can now sack the flag waving parking assistant when out for a drive

Just the suspension to sort now.

I wonder how people managed to park without all the modern sensors. We must have been a lot better drivers in the olden days than todays drivers that's for sure.

I have two types of reversing sensort on the P38. The radar type that gives a distance read out and an audio prompt..

And a towbar that just gives the audio prompt

Get the tow bar prompt, once stopped a ner do wells jaunt with a works rangey, absolutely trashed the front of the misappropriated metro but just scraped the paint on the tow bar

I once had a wanabe James Hunt run into me in his mums Morris Marina. He knocked the trailer electrics socket and a bumper mounted fog light off my Classic. I got out to see how he was and found the engine had been pushed that far back that the gearbox had joined him inside the car. I did offer to tow the car back to his house..

Glad you liked that Brian, you should have been there. He was taking a blind left hand bend out of the village. I was stopped waiting to turn right after an approaching vehicle. I heard him coming . I heard him ragging it in second, then third, just dropped it in fourth when he saw my White Classic in his path. Brakes locked up,skidding sound then BANG!!. Then the sound of headlights falling on to the road and steam hissing. No wonder they called it Classic.

Sweet ! Eh those were them days those was, metro, marina and lest we forget the square steering wheeled allegro More go in a bag of chips, easy to learn to drive in though, only 4 gears
