Driving along I can hear a whining noise but not when I use the accelerator.
I greased all my nipples today . Would this have anything to do with it? Sounds like it's coming from the front.
Thanks as always

If I greased my nipples I think I would whine a bit as well  did you check your diff fluids at the same time?

I have a hum coming from my engine at idle. Turns out it's an idler pulley....bought it, but been working so often & using company vehicle I haven't had time to replace it.

Anyway, worth a check while you're at it :)

It is obligatory at this point to state that it's your missus. Just shove her out at the next junction and all your problems are solved.

So if you are accelerating it whines from the front but if you just coast along it goes quiet? Sounds like the diff.

Other way round, on acceleration no whine, on overrun whine, pinion bearings. ;)

Sorry. Just to be clear:

acceleration - no whine; overrun whine = pinion bearings.
acceleration whine; overun no whine = ?
