Hi Guys,

I have a wonderful P38 with a random alarm issue, it keeps setting off the alarm randomly when parked and when I return to the vehicle it flashes up 'movement detected'. There clearly hasn't been any movement so would this be a short somewhere or maybe moisture in the system as it is rather wet up here?

Any advice welcomed

Volumetric Sensors are a known problem on the P38....

so are they fixable or is it a case of locking it with the key in future to disable the internal sensors?

Just replace the volumetric sensor or go on diagnostics and disable it

As a newby is replacing the sensor an easy job or not? What's involved?

Just unclip it from the headlining (pull it out) and unplug it. You may or not have two of these ultrasonic units fitted, if the problem goes away u then know that was it.

A new sensor is quite expensive, but they are easy to replace. There is also a company (sorry, I cannot remember their name. I believe they trade on TehBay) that will give you your money back if replacing your sensor doesn't solve issues like this. As they say that 99.99999% of alarm problems like this are down the the volumetric sensor.
