Hi All,

I'm in need of your help again.
Just driving my 2002 4.6 P38 back home and noticed a vibration on start up and a small but noticeable rotten egg smell. Drove a few miles (didn't notice the smell again until I was in traffic) and it seemed like it was down on power slightly - it didn't have the pull it normally does have. The vibration was worse at low revs. The car has covered about 90,000 miles.

Any views on what the issue could be?

Best,

EVO

Rotten egg smell and loss of power would mean cat converters have broken up.

Or a lambda sensor is shot so the affected cat isn't lighting up properly due to incorrect air/fuel mixture - which could also cause a misfire.

Where are you roughly in London - you might have someone near you with diagnostics willing to help.

Maybe a misfire leading to unburnt fuel in the exhaust. This would also count for the rough running.

Thanks for the help guys, I'm going to be dropping the car off to get repaired soon.
Steve, I'm based in North London.
Doz, I think you may be correct. From what I can tell from previous invoices the then owner replaced the ignition leads as the car was running rough - I think it may be the same thing again. Fuel consumption has also increased and I have noticed that the revs fluctuate.
I will keep this thread updated.

If he replaced ignition leads would have thought that would have sorted problem.
With a rotten egg smell my money is still on cat converters need replacing. Would give your other symptoms as well.

I'm in Enfield are you far from there? I might be able to plug my lynx in and have a poke round. Pm me with more accurate location details if I'm close enough to help.

Steve, many thanks for the offer! Really appreciate it.
It was the HT leads as first thought - I think the previous owner put some Britpart ones on. Now it's MOT time for one of my other cars.
