hi all , my p38 turbo started leaking oil . can any 1 recomend anywhere who either recons or sells turbos at peoples prices? not main dealer prices :) cheers

Are you sure its the turbo that is at fault?
My EGR equiped (the non EGR do not have a link) P38 is sucking oil from the rocker cover at an alarming rate, I'm sure my intercooler is full at this stage! Anyway this problem could manifest itself as oil coming from the turbo.

I agree, why do you think its leaking oil, when you pull the turbo pipes its perfectly normal to find oil in them.

Are you loosing vast amounts??

Hey Wills,

Sorry to hijack the post for a minute, I know that posts addressed at leerangerover, but what do you think would happen if I plugged or constricted the rocker vent, I'm losing over a litre of fully synthetic per 1000 miles and I'm sure my intercooler must be clogged with expensive oil at this stage. I found the problem when I went cleaning the AFM which had oil in it. I haven't taken off the cam cover to see what is going on as I don't have a replacement cover seal.

The honest answer is I don't know what would happen - sorry. This is why the breather is there...

I guess its there for a good reason though!

Thanks for the info Wills,

I had a new head fitted after a blown head gasket. But the parts were sent to me by the garage I bought the P38 from and fitted by a specialist at home.
I bet I have the non-EGR cam cover with no vlave on the inside of the breather pipe.
I'll order a cam cover seal and whip it off to check.

Thanks again.
