My turbocharger is leaking oil internally and externally from the air compressor side and is getting worse.
I have looked for for a rebuild kit for the turbo but can't find one.
Has anyone changed the seals and bearings and is it a straightforward DIY job?

No. Not a diy job. Really. Yes, I`m sure someone out there has done it, but if you`re asking that question , don`t do it. The tolerances involved are very critical, in a piece of kit at very high temps spinning, faster than the little disc in your `putor, that if it fails could spit bits of red hot metal into your engine while simultaneously starving it if oil, and feeding it loads of warm fuel to make it over-rev to the point of.....

turbos spin upto 200,000rpm and need to be correctly balanced. for the price and time of a re-built buy a new unit from a reputable source with a warranty and fitting/priming kit.

AVOID ebay cheap copies. they are cheap coz they are ****!!!

Try the online breakers search companys like 247, did this for my Pajero and got a great deal. Would imagine there are lots out there as this engine was fitted to a lot of cars.
