Ticks over fine when the auto box is in D and you've pulled up, but if you knock it into N at traffic lights for example it shoots up to 1500rpm and stays there.
I'm thinking the engine ecu is seeing a larger value from the throttle position sensor than its stored idle value.Check the cable for free play,other than that its a session on Testbook to see whats going on.
