Hi all was just wondering if it was normal for temp gage to go over a bit when towing. my 300 tdi 90 went up to 3/4 when i was towing a suzuki vitara on a car transporter was no were near over weight and did not go any higher just wondered if this was normal due to engiene having to work a bit more

Could be. Do you have a viscous fan fitted or not? If not I was told this would contribute to overheating if the engine was working harder.

check rad is hot allover entire surface when upto temp

yes when towing you are putting extra strain on engine so heat will rise as will long hills at high speed etc etc what was weather like Hot & Sunny?? it all had an effect.

Yes it was warm and sunny will check rad and fan thanks for all replys
