after a googlefest i found an original american price of 3325 dollars and a 1973 exchange rate equation it turns out it was aboot 1400quid
wel.... a decent wage then was about £20 a week - about £1000 a year - so 1.5 years wages.

so in retrospect the cost of a brand new series 3 in 1973 costs less than it would to fully restore one nowadays
