Planning to upgrade my 91 defender 90's shocks and springs, the current ones are getting water in them. Looking for some that are decently affordable and preferably orange. Most like the super gaz ones come in yellow and blue. Is there any make that offers more colours or if not, how would I go about painting them? How is that plastic spray stuff people use on alloy rims or would they really need to be powder coated?

just get a tin of your desired colour preferably made up from paint factors rather than halfords ****e

it needs to have some plasterciser in it, that allows it to crack. If you speak to a proper paint company they will be able to mix some up to you to your desired requirements.

You can get them plastic dipped which is another option of course.

Yeah, plastic dipped was my first thought, it seems a cheap and relatively easy option, never used the stuff before though, still guessing I will need to sand the old paint off the springs?

Or buy De Carbon shocks, they are orange

We used it on electrical instruments to make them a nice touch for our customers, but that was a clean surface. I would presume a blasted surface would be the best, nice and clean fresh metal.

Its just like making candles (or me with the mrs) really ;)

would be alot easier (and probably work out about the same cost) to simply sell your current set up and buy those de carbon ones

That actually look pretty nice! Just what I was looking for, you know of any online sellers who stock them? Saw the watermark on there and checked it out. One of those call for a quote ones though! I hate them, I shop online to avoid talking to people! Haha ;)

They are call for a quote for a reason, lifts can differ, some vehicle want more on one side to the other and they have all the different heights in stock so will custom make your setup for you. They are who I got mine from (same stuff as above) and are very good. It isn't the cheapest but then it isn't cheap crap quality...
