the front timing cover seal has a leak on it,so im going to change it next week, while im at it im going to renew the chain and sprokets along with the front pully seal,it,s a 2000 thor v8 4.6 anything alse i should change while im in there,i was thinking of maybe the oil pump, just to save me stripping it all apart later ???

it,s currently got 87000 on the clock,i know the camshaft was done 10000 mile ago according to the receipt, and it also had a new water pump fitted at the same time

Should have fitted new chain & sprockets when the camshaft was done. The oil pump should be o.k., check it for damage/wear-new oil pump kit around £55 from Rimmers.

Change the serpentine belt and check the tensioner bearing for signs of "Roughness".

IMPORTANT TIP: When refitting the hose from the oil cooler to the bottom of the front cover-don't overtighten the tube nut as the boss that it goes into has very thin walls and you will crack it and don't forget to replace the "O" ring on the pipe and Camshaft sensor.

the only reason i though of renweing the timing gear is there is nothing to say they had been done, when the camshaft was done, but there are reciepts for all the gaskets seals etc, also nothing about the oil pump so im trying to cover all angles sort of speak

Highly unlikely the pump needs replacing unless the oil pressure is poor-warning light on etc. or the pump rotor is worn. It' far better than the gear pump fitted to the old V8's.
It's your cash however-personally I wouldn't bother-just strip it, clean it and have a look.

thanks for the advice, i think i,ll just do the timing gear and gasket and check the pump condition for the time being;)

Keep the old tensioner and just buy a new bearing for it from your local bearing supplier then you have a "New" spare at less than half the cost of a complete unit.
