Hi,

Ive had my 97 discovery300tdi a week now and am loving it. I changed the oil, fuel, and air filters along with the oil yesterday. Ive done a 180 mile round trip in it today and everything was fine for the first part 90 miles. Then returning home I noticed on idle the oil light came on... but went off as soon as hit the gas. Ive checked the oil and its up to 'full' marker on the stick. Then when I got home home ive pottered about a bit and now the light doesnt come on at all. I used 10-40 oil... could it be the oil? the oil filter? or a dodgey oil pressure sensor?

Can anybody shed any light on this? Im gonna get the oil pressure checked tomorrow.

The grade of oil you are using is ok, perhaps the grade of the old oil was just a bit thicker and/or the oil pressure switch is a bit 'lazy'.

Try a replacement switch it's no more than £5 if it happens again.
