Hi I have an oil leak it is dripping off the sump plug when stopped I have just had the sump gasket changed and drove 50 miles and no leak I went out in it the day after round town and when i parked it back up it was leaking. It dont look like the rear crank seal as it was dry on the flywheel when sump was off, is there any other common oil leaks on the 4.6 V8 engines it is at the back of engine and doing my head in at moment any advice would be welcome. thanks

hi
on my old 88 3.5 classic i had similar oil leak finally traced it too the rocker cover hope it helps

Get under the beast and just check all the sump bolts.

If you are convinced it is the sump plug try giving it a little tweak. In the alternative get a new sump plug and copper washer. I think Halfrauds sell em now so may be quicker and easier than going to your local stealer.

The other option is to degrease the engine and get it all as clean as possible then look for the trail of oil.

Possibly one or both of the rocker cover gaskets-fit the later rubber ones. Another possibility is the valley gasket end seal(s) for starters.
