Hi all, who would have thought it an oil leak on a land rover? any way the oil filter bowl and cap on the bmw engine allways seems to start leaking after around 3 months from the last service and also when its done some work. (engine wisethat is, i do a lot of towing). . Engine as been rebuilt/ refurbished and runs fine. its just this persistant oil leak around the neck of the filter bowl and cap, these have also been replaced with new items. If i replace the seal it will cure it untill the next time???? Any suggestions are most welcome and i thank you all in advance:confused:

Early or late oil filter housing? Mines a late one and I've had trouble with the cap leaking. It's the "O" rings. It seems to depend on which make of oil filter you use, with some the "O" rings are crap and too thin. Latest one is a Mahle, the "O" rings were thicker and it seems to be oil tight.

I think its an early type, can you swap it for the later types cos they both look the same
