Best of luck. I had to change mine last year as I sprung a slight weep. Found the hose connections were very badly corroded on due to the cooler being aluminium and the pipe nuts steel, finished up having to buy new hoses around £14 each plus a new cooler .If you are buying second hand suggest you get the hoses with it. Tip-don't go mad tightening the hose to the bottom of the engine front cover as the boss wall thickness isn't that great and the boss cracks which means it's a new front cover at around £200 from RPI or £400 from a main dealer.
I finished up getting my cooler from Famous Four and the hoses from Island 4x4 as I shopped around for prices. No prob's since fitteing them.

thanks for the tip, i been warned about the cooler snapping of with the nuts, i wont be too worried about the pipe fitting into front cover as its auto transmission cooler not engine oil cooler but yes i have heard of this as the guys who rebuilt my engine did it!!
found island4x4 do one for £104! and there 40 mins away, add 2 tins of wd40 for me nuts and i should be fine...

Hi Redrange,
The nuts are threaded either M20 or M22 fine thread. I didn't realise it was the transmission cooler you were suffering with. If you are in the s**t and need to clear the threads out on the nuts, I have the taps to do the job and can post them over if you need them. It may need the steel pipe cutting to remove the nuts and clean the threads out and a 1/2" O/D compression coupler fitting to make good afterwards. If you need these I have them also.

thats realy very kind of you to offer, i shall be in touch if required, my plan is to leave them soaking in WD40 for a few days before hand and i may have good luck like i did with my down pipe nuts!

well the leave soaking in WD40 for a while plan never happened, i attempted it this morning and no problems at all im pleased to say, i had blow tourch ready incase they where tight but they came undone ok, i was expecting the worse!!!, took about hour and half i spose after messing about with removing the slam panel and loosesning the engine oil cooler as well to get the tranny cooler out, the water radiator and engine oil cooler stayed connected throughout!

Good for you.
Pleased you got the nuts off o.k. As I said, they can be a pain because of the electrolytic action between the aluminium and the steel which is better than any Loctite ever made!
Chances are the socket has rolled under the radiator somewhere, it's amazing how many nooks and crannies there are and it's Sods Law that a handy piece of kit or a special bolt etc. will fall cleanly into one.
Couple of pints tonight should take the pain away though.
