That's another thing. When I had the wheels off and was playing with the calipers n stuff, I notice that there's a small amount of play in the transmission. About 1/2" of turn of the hub before the prop shaft turns.

I've always noticed a bit of a clunk if I'm a bit quick off the clutch changing gear so I've adapted to a nice n shmoove driving style. But is something on its way out there?

That's normal.

Check the A Frame ball joint - a more likely source of clonking on the uptake.
