i think for road use .. the consensus be that the oem rubber bushes give a better and quieter ride
be a matter of opinion though ..
unfortunately the search feature on this site appears to be not working
( maybe it's my computer .. don't know )
be plenty of posts on the subject .. for and against nylon bushes
as for shocks .. local LR dealer said to me .. they only replace them if seen to be leaking ..
mine are original ( Delphi ) .. 160k on the clock .. and rides the same as when i bought it with 37k on clock ..
i have replaced all front end bushes .. as some looked to be worn .. ( never had creaking noises )
but ride remains the same ..
as for creaking noises .. Might .. just be the anti roll bar bushes ..
i'm tempted to replace all of mine with the oem delphi shocks
but .. only to see if the ride would improve by a great deal ..
quite happy with ride and handling as is ..
i use red rubber grease on all external rubber bits ( obviously not on the tyre

..
as for difficulty getting it into 1st gear ..
(
https://www.landyzone.co.uk/land-rover/1st-gear.329851/ )
check the bushes where the gearshift lever connects to the rods
( directly under the gearshift lever )
they can wear and make it difficult with 1st and reverse
mine can be a bit screwy if the vehicle is at a sideways angle
e.g. nearside wheels up on curb .. and similar ..
has been much better since i lubricated the above mentioned bushes
obviously it could also be a clutch system issue ..
once in a while reverse doesn't go in 1st time
i just let off the clutch in neutral and try again .. usually works
in my case .. can happen if vehicle is parked facing downhill and slightly tilted
