What does doubling up the winch mean?

When I bought my Disco the chap said it would be ok if I doubled it up?

It means that you spool the winch cable out to the object that you wish to winch, wrap it around a snatch block (pulley) and then bring it back to a suitable point on your landy. By doing this you halve the load on the winch.

so to do this i assume its a bit under rated for purpose ?????
 
just run the winch rope round the tree and fook it up like most ****wits do .....


you could of course get a defender and give up getting stuck...

Makes sense now lol, should I use a tree strop to loop it back to the landy or is there something better I could use?

.When stropping trees avoid being too low on the main stem(trunk)
use as wider webbing as possible,most like me buy 1 just for trees.
avoid useing rope unless essental and choose the right tree,Something with thick bark ie pine not silver birch as the paperlike bark will slip and cause death to the tree.

Dont forget to stand in the middle of the 2 winch wires...get a better view of things**
