I had a look at a disco today and noticed when the key was in its first stage the fuel pump was whirring. Is this normal or am I worrying about nowt?

I also noticed it was a bit stiff going from high to low but assumed that was normal too?

Yes, but when it warms up it's better. Certainly after the first green lane of the day
