Hi
my 1998 XEI 1.8 Manual has no drive, all gears can be selected but no movement. The yellow Hill Decent light is on all the time. As suggested in other threads I checked for and found a broken wire under gearlever rubber but repairing this has made no differance ,any ideas !

It sounds like a bad one, if the car lets you select the gears easily but doesnt stall or move when you come off the clutch you must have a gearbox failure of some sort.

Get it to a specialist.
