I am in Norwich and restore things, usually Bikes as I am not geared up for anything bigger (Well, I have a big Gravel Drive to squirm about on)..

I do have a workshop though, a nice big workshop with everything I need for most things - proper tools etc so I am able to fix most things.. oh, and a Welder too but this Freelander is SOLID so no need for any of that with this project

I have a Vinyl Decal business and am a presenter on Hospital Radio (Was a Pro DJ for most of my adult life, spent Ten of those years living on Corfu).

I recently acquired a Freelander which was what directed me to this forum, I can see I will need a lot of help as I have a few problems and I am not Superman (well, some think I am).

I see you have a L Series diesel, which is what mine is as well. Great motors, just be careful that the belts (cam, aux and pump) are maintained and the aux/drive belt tensioner is in good nick. They do have a tendancy to throw the aux belt which wrapps round the crank pulley taking out the cam belt and totalling the engine.

Other than that, they're great, reliable and economic motors.

Grumpy, this is an absolute joy for me to work on as I have been fixing our Merc A170 lately and there is absolutely NO ROOM !

I even had to drop the engine to change the aux belt on that, and water pump at the same time.

I will be making sure everything is ok in the engine dept very soon and will pay particular attention to your points.
At the moment I am replacing the bottom engine mount, the prop shaft and the flexi down pipe.

Its the back door thats troubling me at the moment
