Hi everyone. I have just inherited a Freelander 1 Td4 from my brother in law as it was going for buttons as a trade in. Browsed other sites but this seems a friendly one. I have never owned one or had a 4x4 before so please be easy on me if what I ask seems simple as I probably am.
My main concern is the noise from the rear when steering is on lock either side.It sounds very mechanical but is totally fine when the car is going straight or even turning at speed its very noticable when reversing out of a space.
I need to replace two rear regulators and replace the clutch slave and master cylinder but apart from that the engine idles great , no smoke and drives very smoothly.

I reckon your VCU is shagged. Have a search and post in the freelander section
