Hi everyone,
First time posting but hoping you might be able to help? I have an 02 TD5 defender 90 which has been remapped and is in need of a new transfer box. I was wondering what peoples recommendations are for sourcing one? It currently has a D2 1.2 ratio with CDL and was hoping to replace like for like.

Any advice or recommendations would be great! Thanks in advance

Syncro Gearboxes or Ashcroft Transmissions should be able to help you

Ashcroft Transmissions are sort of THE name in landy gearboxes/transfer boxes and diffs.

I have two of their atb diffs installed and they've performed faultlessly. Very knowledgeable and great customer service, which in this day and age is a huge plus!

Ok thank you, I did see Beaumonts 4x4 also do them. I wondered if anyone has any experience with them?

another vote for Ashcroft here. It is a recon of your current rather than a replacement but their turn around time is about a week (quicker if you drop off and collect) so the vehicle is not off the road for long.

No I did get a price from them for an lt-95 and they were so shockingly cheap in comparison to the previous quotes id had i actually avoided them. They might be fine, but I can't see how they would give the same service for half the price!

R Whitehouse and Son are another name with a good reputation, infact I think it was them that Ashcrofts recommended for the lt-95 as ashcrofts no longer do that particular one.

So probably in very good hands with either!

Try to rebuild it though, perhaps you can find a rebuild kit.

Or possibly send it in for reconditioning, should be cheaper
