Hoping someone can help, Land Rovers are new territory for me....
I recently acquired a battered P38 that had been sitting for a number of years. The 4.6 V8 is the good bit, aside from a knackered water pump, idler and a few other bits that I've already done.
The EAS was toast and was sitting on the bump stops. Eventually got it running (but not doing anything) using the RSW software and found lots of leaks. All four springs have now been replaced and the compressor rebuilt with new seals. It now works brilliantly apart from the compressor coming on a lot. It will run for maybe 10-15 seconds every 30-60 seconds. I cant see any leaks with soapy water and so far its not sinking when left. So i'm assuming it's storage side. Is the most likely cause leaking seals in the block? Do the tanks ever fail?
Another noise going on when running is what I think is the ABS pump. What could cause that to come on and off all the time?
Also got a fast idle problem but haven’t yet gone through the TPS and ICV so not at a loss on that one just yet.
Any suggestions appreciated..
