More questions

Hi to all. Only brought my 03 Defender TD5 last week and yesterday she cut out completely. I couldn't hear the fuel pump so removed it last night and discovered there was only 2 or 3 volts at the pump. I tried the pump straight to the battery and it worked. I have also noticed that when I turn the ignition on the temperature gauge rises. Any suggestions please.
 
extermely new here but i know that my 98 range rover p38 has a fuel pump enertia switch under the glove box and its purpose is to stop the fuel pump maybe this got triggered buy accident so check that and maybe you get your fuel pressure back hope this helps good luck....
