hi guys and gals

having just bought my first freelander 1999 1.8 exi i thoughgt it best to find a user forum to get advice from you guys who have more expoerience.

unfortunately after only owning the vehicle for 4 hours it broke down ..drove fine suddenly stopped working enging temp dial showed nothing hoses bery hot.

so its back with the dealer not the best start to owning a landy.

all help and advice welcome

Temp Gauge doesnt always shift when yu get HGF :(.

Check that yu have a VCU and props. Also that ALL tyres are the same make, model and size.

better still get yo money back as it is not "fit for purpose".

Not many like the freelander here, lets hope the dealer gets it sorted, otherwise get ur money back and buy a disco m8...

thanks guys

i have given him chance to sort the problems..drove fine then just lost power and stopped started almost immediately but then lost power again..coolant,oil ok seems to think may be thermostat.he has said he will pay for anything that needs replacing or repairing so fingers crossed

Thermostat problem wouldnt cause the vehicle to just cut out after loosing power, even if the t/stat was stuck shut it would take a while for the engine to overheat as all the thermostat does initially is close off the radiator from the rest of the cooling system untill a pre-defined temp has been reached...... 2 things would stop the engine and thats loss of fuel or loss of spark... generally speaking, thats not to say another problem is causing the ecu's to shut the engine down to protect itself from possible damage, although im not sure the ecu's on a 1999 car can do this...........
