Probably too large a gap if they're tapping. Check and adjust as necessary. Also new head will have new valve springs, valves, and seats, with no carbon build up where they seal so this may sound like a tapping noise as they close. If you are concerned take it back to where the head was fitted and let them have a look. If it f**ks up later its their problem and not yours.

Thanks for that, had the tappets checked this morning and the gaps were too big, problem sorted.......now lol, the engines running a bit lumpy. the revs raise and drop on tickover, at slow speeds like when turning or aproaching a junction the engines stalled a few times but starts straight away with a turn of the key and had a few little pops from the exhaust. Could it be the timing?

Could be timing, carb set up, air filter clogged, leaking vac hose, idle set too low. Hard to tell without seeing it.
