Hi folks, could some of the experts answer a question for me please. I have a Nanocom 1 at the moment but it will not read fault codes other than "Pump not running" for my 2003 D2 Td5 which, of course, is showing the 3 Amigo's. Would I be better to buy a Foxwell 530 for the Slabs/Bcu and keep the Nano 1 for the Td5 , or sell the Nano 1 and invest in an EVO?

cheers, R

Hi, what makes you think that the Nano 1 is not giving the correct code? the EVO is not the best with ABS faults so i'd buy a Foxwell beside the Nano 1 if only the ABS is your concern... Unplug one ABS sensor and read codes that way and if Nano 1 gives you that sensor'a code too means that the probem might be with the ABS pump and the code is correct. Did you check the pump relay, fuse and circuit?

Hi Fery, yes, I printed a copy of your reply to Rotem Mirzai and followed your instructions. My pal has an indy garage business and we tried his Snap-on tester which gave the same result. However, when I clear the fault code with the Nano, all works fine, the T/C works and the ABS works until I switch off the ignition, and they show again on re-start!! Sorry, I forgot to say that I have done the shuttle valve bypass. The reason I am doubting the code is that it states that it has happened 155 times, every time I run the test!!

If that pump related fault code keeps coming back after ignition there is a problem on that path which must be diagnosed properly and repaired, it seems that the fault is recognised only on the system's ignition self test, simply clearing the code doesnt fix the fault so no diagnostic tool would help more untill the fault is there. A specialist should be able to find the fault based on the technical info from the WSM and diagrams without playing "parts darts" game... It can be an ECU misbehaviour too which can be ruled out only by replacing the ECU with known good one. Troubleshooting is needed, i'd replace the pump relay with new one first then check the pump's circuit from fusebox to modulator ... some hints for pump related fault codes the last links HERE

Brilliant Fery, thank you. I have saved the link and will get "Betsy" into my workshop tomorrow and work through the list. I have already serviced and checked the manual side of the braking system so I suppose that's a start. I will post updates and no doubt call on your knowledge again as I go!!

many thanks again, cheers,
