This is the first Discovery or even 4x4 i have owned. Bought it on new years ever and due to insurance being shut i had to return yesterday to collect it.

Picked it up yesterday at 11am from Fort william & began the 3 hour drive back to Glasgow, through Glencoe & Loch Lomond. The Disco ran great right through the journey and was really good on fuel and super comfortable(im used to the bucket seat in my bmw drifter though). I love the Disco already!

Here is a few photos of how it came to me. Stripping it down today to try my best to straighten it out better till i can get the parts i need. Its a 300tdi with 180k and half leather i paid £590 for motd till may.





 
Thats a fair bit of damage but should be fixable. What do you plan to do with it?

Tell me about it. Plan to raise it put some wheels & tyres on, winch, roof tent thing. Just for general daily use, going travelling in the summer around scotland & just having fun in the muck
 
Shows some one was once interested in the vehicle to install XS seats into it, looks as if the bonnet was saved from damage but is the door ok? and well done with your purchase. :)

Bonnet is all fine, door seems ok other than dropped slightly but that drop could be age related.

Just a hinge or two replacement, a quick Saturday morning job then spend the afternoon lining up the door :D

Usually just some slight adjustment required.. if u haven't already lost your lucky streak:)

Also..u have a white switch + led at the side of the dash, wots that for.

It has a few switches but they all do nothing, i assume 1 is for day running lights that have a broken wire but no idea what the other 2 are for

I think it may be a slight adjustment job myself maybe out a mil or to.
Better news is i got straightened out enough to at least be able to drive it till get my replacement parts. Got all the doors to open with help from my friend wd40, all i need to do is sort the windows not opening(think its the switches or wiring) & tailgate to open. Oh and the sunroof don't leak :D
 
Days fun activities. Yes i know its rough but its all i can do till i get parts.

Also discovered the headlight & indicator are from a different model



 
A £600 Disco that done a 3 hour journey home with no probs, you have had a bloody good induction to the LR !.
As said above the seats are well worth keeping in good nick,I have just put a set in mine and paid £300 for them.
Welcome to LZ and welcome to the full time job of running a Disco.

I know! Cannot fault its running just 1 large problem to sort and a few niggles. Thank you seems cheap motoring so far(fingers crossed) and put £30 of fuel in at fort william and seem to have half left? Which would mean 50mpg, surely that can't be right? Or dodgy fuel gauge?
 
Ok an iffy inner wing as expected, so cut an replace the damaged part, first a replacement part must be found, the other issues is just ongoing, wiring to the windows and central locking is pretty straight forward u will need the Haynes manual for that and also any issues in the future.

My old mans a mechanic just get him to fix it all, i know how to as well but i shall just pretend and he will do it for me haha
 
Got it up on the ramp today to have a proper look over my purchase.

Looked very good, having all brake lines replaced and a shiny new exhaust. Chassis needs 1 patch at either side at the back but thats easy, wheel bearings and brakes all good. Slight leak from the power steering lines but they just need tightened. Looks like i am on to a winner with my 180k Disco
 
Looks nice, hard to find cheap Discos, I was lucky a friend works in a dealers and I got mine for £800.
It would be good if you fine the correct colour wing.

Not right!! Expect 25ish and maybe 30mpg on a run.
 
I have done just about the same fix, on the other side, you will need an inner repair, slam panel, wing and maybe the bonnet and bumper. Easy to do just needs a little welding.
 
Looks like you've done well there, looks like it's got a black eye from the crash :D

That is an early Discovery 2 headlight (they are just the same, only with black inners. I painted mine to look like that.

Once you've got it straightened out, it sounds like you've got a gooden!
 
Picked all the parts up from Dove the other week. Bit on the rough side but nothing that can't be repaired, main thing is its straight & plus side is that its the same colour.

Tonight whilst waiting on my new welder to turn up i started on a project i have been toying with. Wether it will work or not is another matter but worth a try as its only time.




Scaffold tube ready to be cut and clamped for first mock up and tow plates to be cut tomorrow they are 10mm thick steel with a 22mm bore
