I have a 97 range rover HSE 4.6 and i notice that there is a small vac-um hose hanging down from the shifting assembly on the Trans. does anyone know were it connects to, and would it cause my Trans to shift down into a lower gear out of the ordinary and cause the gear box default message to appear

they have no vac hoses ,they have breather pipes one for each unit

Do you know what could cause the down shifting

need a bit more info but apart from gear selection you make with lever the auto part is cotrolled through electrically operated solenoids through g/box ecu which uses info such as vehicle speed, throttle position etc,what are actual symptoms and did anthing get done or occur before

The suv overheated and the 2 fans in the front of the radiators stop working and anti-freeze spill out of the fill container, trans. fluid looked good when i check it but i also change write after it over heated
