Well the time came I had to take my Freelander in for a MOT but I knew there was probably a problem with the brake pipes ,so I had the pipes done ,last year I had a special offer from the local LR dealer and it passed but they told me about the brake pipes and the tank cradle which I must admit was rotten also the bushes on the front wish bones and on the back ,and as I have a serious back problem and I have just had a new knee and can not get down on the floor I though if it fails I will let them do it as the son in law is away at the moment on holiday, it came out and it had passed no problems so I asked about the bushes all round , he said there is no problem with them, now back at home I had 2 new wishbones for the front ,so was I being ripped of or trying to be by the local LR garage, never mind I will get the wishbones put on the wife's freelander as hers are looking a bit old .

Mines still running on the original bushes, 134000 miles! Keep thinking about changing them, but the local garage man says leave em. Depends on how you use the car I suppose. Mike

Good news on the pass :)

I guess it depends on the level of wear 'allowed' by each garage as to whether parts require replacement.

Well done on passing your MOT:) Unfortunately for me, mine has fail miserably spectacular:eek: All brakepipes ABS sensor ABS light failed because a previous clown before I bought had silicon sealed over the LED lights for ABS and TC. So not having a clue whether I have been driving with the Three Amigos blazing away. As of yesterday since I placed the poor beast is in for repairs, with my local garage gaining parts like a surgeon on OD,:oops::oops::(:(:( leaving me with a nasty bill while looking for plasters for my burnt fingers and possible hospital visit.:mad::mad::mad::mad::eek::eek::confused::confused::confused:

well next month it is the turn of the wife's car and it is a 1998 1800 and yes she has just had the HG done last time it went through with no advisories time before that I had renewed the complete back end bushes before hand just keeping my fingers crossed

Ouch just got mine back on the road now. I now have my ABS TC working from the last harsehole attempt fiddling with dash lights. A bit surprise why the last MOT garage never picked this up. Still the my garage mechanic said it was the wheel bearing on the driver side magnetic strip that's failing causing the new sensor to trigger the dash lights. The bearing is perfect and no problem just this issue. Q. How much would this cost to replace in general as I asked the mechanic and was quoted 140 pounds. I guess this would not fail an MOT as I would be still there waiting for the car to pass.

I'm confused. Having fixed the dash lights, if the ABS pickup (sender) on the bearing is shot, surely the ABS lights will now not go out - so it shouldn't have passed the MOT? If the lights go out correctly then there's not an issue.
