OK so I know that 0w40 is not in the list of oil specs in the owners handbook, but what do people feel about using it in this engine? Any one any horror stories or good news stories?

Ran my 300Tdi on it for 12 years and 200k miles with no apparent probs. in fact I was very pleased with it.

shud b fine....the zero part is the temp it will remain at a 40 visc

Mobil1 is fantastic oil, I have used it a lot over the years (mainly in my motorbikes!). There have been a number of tests where the oil has excelled in all areas. Probably overkill for a low-revving diesel engine!
