There are a lot of anaswers why my TD5 110 is miss firing but where would the best place to start be? I have changed the fuel fiter as it only started after filling up and the clod weather. Is the wiring loom to the injectors the place to start or replacing the injector one by one. Is there any why of determining where to start fault finding?

Injector loom is where you should start. Check for signs of oil contamination in the multiplug. Injectors aren't cheap, reprogramming them is also costly. Don't start changing them just for the sake of it.

HI, my 2002 TD5 began misfiring and lacking power last week. (It felt like driving a petrol engined car with the choke stuck on).
I knew my fuel filter was ok (recently changed), so I checked for oil at the multiplug at the front/top of the engine - and no signs of oil.
So I took it to a Landy speciallist with a diagnostic box. It found various 'faults logged'. The mechanic cleared the faults, and the I drove it about 15 mile (still misfiring). We then re-checked for faults , and found that there was a problem with no.5 injector. The injector was replaced £230 (part no MSC000030) and the correct code was programmed into the controller. The fuel injector harness was also changed as a precaution (part no. AMR6103 £35).
This cured the fault, and now she's sweet again!

I suspect that that may well have been the fault in first place. I have never needed to replace a TD5 injector.

I've just done one of these, 2001 disco with a misfire when the engine was warm. The car really did run like a dog. The problem was the injector wiring harness, which sits underneath the rocker box. External clue was oil seeping back through the main harness, into the red plug on the ECU. Cleaned out the connector using WD40, the blowing out with an airline. Some oil had also found its way into the airflow meter connector, which i also cleaned.
Prev. owner had been told it was a duff injector, but local Landy specialists said its usually the harness, adding that they sell very few Td5 injectors (but lots of harnesses). I have a friend who is a diesel injection specialist, and he had the same opinion. Apparently those Delphi unit injectors can last up to 500,000 miles.
Anyway the new harness cost £33 + VAT and the whole job took around an hour or so. Happy Bunny!
