Tis the the season of paranoia....

I've noticed that my 05 TD4 freelander creeps along in first gear with no help from the gas. Is this normal? Maybe it's always done it but I seem to remember hearing sometime that it's not a good sign of something.....

Am I just being paranoid?

Sorry, it's a manual.
I mean that when I put it in first and release the clutch the car moves along with no need to give it gas. I would have thought that normally it would stall if I released the clutch without a little gas...

dint be stoopid it's a diesel landrover it'll take more than that to stall it

That is normal for a Diesel..one of the reasons a lot of driving schools use Diesel..well hard to stall...
D

i drove my doozel gaylander 3 miles home on tickover once, when i had a problem with the throttle. it even pulled 3rd gear on the flat sections.

Most diesels will pull themselves along on tickover, but doesn't the Td4 have anti-stall, that actually adjusts the throttle to hold it at tickover even on hills and things. Works as long as you don't touch the peddle.

thanks all..... just me being paranoid.
After all, I haven't had to take it to the garage for over six months now,... the waiting is killing me ...
