Hi all, I am a newby so if anyone can help it would be much appreciated!
I bought a 2004 SE Diesel Freelander last July, after driving for a few months I came to the conclusion I either have a fuel leak or a very thirsty Freelander! After a bit of research on here I unplugged the MAF sensor and the difference was amazing in power and general running of the engine. I have since driven with it unplugged until last week when I came across a MAF sensor on Ebay for £35.00 (Aftermarket) I plugged in at the weekend hoping to feel a massive difference in both the drive and fuel economy. However, I have spent the last 48 hours smoking out West Sussex!! With the new MAF fitted the engine runs lumpy and sluggish and both black and white plooms of smoke seem to be coming from the exhaust. I decided to drive the Freelander for several miles (55 to be exact) in case it clears but to no avail .
In a nutshell should I have just bought a genuine MAF or is there something else I should be re-setting? Or after driving the Freelander for so long with the MAF unplugged I have broken something else???
Any help would be very much appreciated.
