No, it's not really major news. But, I removed and cleaned the MAF on my 166k, 2001 TD5 today after testing with the MAF disconnected and although it didn't look dirty it has made one hell of a difference. Has to be on of the simplest maintenance tasks ever and you get instant gratification (assuming a dirty MAF).

Bought some CRC MAF Sensor cleaner and just used most of the can on the two wires. Didn't touch them, then left it to dry.

This is before I cleaned it - but duly and dusty.

Taking the MAF out is really easy. Jubilee clip on the turbo side, clips on the air box side. Remove the MAF loom plug from the top and with a little tug it comes free of both ducts.

I took the air box cover off first, which removed the duct to the MAF as well. But, I'm not sure I needed to. I would probably do that next time too.
