I've got a reconditioned LT85 waiting to go in my 90 behind a V8. This is the box that has come out.

I have been offered an R380. Is this a straight swap? Is it worth doing as I've heard good things about the LT85?

depends if it is a defender or discovery spec R380 first off.
Second lt85 is generally robust and came in early single case form and later split case form.
opinion was the lt95 4 speed was the daddy of them all for strength and the LT77 was weak

Sorry - should have given a bit more information.

The R380 came off a Defender and the LT85 that I have is a split case.
