Hi there.
It's really tricky because of the lack of space. Only real alternative is to remove main fuel tank and have small petrol tank fitted and gas tanks in its place but then that could make it expensive.
I have spare wheel well tank and its fine, you can have the tyres sealed and also buy that goo to go in them if space is a problem.

hi rob its also possible to have a tank fitted in the actual boot space itself , but personally i wouldnt recommend it as it cuts down your luggage space considerably .

As far as i know there is only the three options on the p38, spare wheel well, luggage area or have a split petrol tank that holds about 5 gallon of petrol in one part and lpg in the other (iv`e seen shoguns with this systems fitted). I had a clasic with the twin torpedo tanks underneath both sides and it was great, i didn`t have any clearance issues but there isn`t enough room under the p38 for them to fit. I have the tank in the spare wheel well and carry a can of tyre weld when i change my tyres i will have them filled with with an anti puncture fluid.

According to the one iv`e been looking at it seals holes up to 6mm, anything larger then you get a controlled deflation over a period of time. I worked for ATS tyres for 11 years and 6mm is about as big as can be repaired safely anything larger is quite rare and really needs a major repair or replacement, if your out on the road thats where the breakdown services come in. unless of coarse it has air suspension and you will find an air tank in the way!!
This may sound totally untekspeak with no cred whatsoever 
, but......What I've done is to clean the spare wheel and tyre thoroughly and place it flat in the cargo space, hollow side up. Then found a plastic bowl thing that fits the space exactly. Thus, virtually, only the tyre volume is lost. I put a couple of rope handles in the container which made it easily removable. I know, really, it's a damned nuisance but underslung tanks as I had on my classic are out and to run a deisel thingy or petrol non dual-fuel is just as out.I'd never trust one of those squirty repair things, either. It's Saturday morning and with the wife out car booting, I'm home alone and unsupervised, so, being unable to contribute tekspeke, I've posted this to cure my Landyzone cold turkey shakes. regards all, P.S
