This weekend I had my FL 1.8 on a ramp. I removed the bottom plate just to check everything. all looked fine, but further inspection learned that 3 bolts that securing the gearbox to the IRD bracket (bracket between the gearbox and IRD) were loose. Could not tighten the bolts because the IRD is in the way. So I had to move the IRD to the right which gave me space to tighten the bolts.

Then when I was loosening the IRD bracket (right hand side) and noticed that there were 4 bolts missing!!

In total 7 bolts, that are keeping the transmission in place, missing or loose! Quoting Lance Armstrong: Not Normal : or is this normal for the 1.8?

doesnt sound too normal - previous owner may have done a botched clutch change or something ........

When I did my (Td4) clutch I found that the left hand drive shaft was not fully located in the gearbox !!!
