Bloomin p38 is punishing me big time, iv'e just changed out all the airbags, rebuilt the compressor, fitted a new exhaust and was even thinking of washing it! when i got given a mission to go to Tesco's and get some frozen parsnips, "make sure there frozen!" its a long story, anyway i digress, as i was purring along at 50mph there was what can only be described as a popping noise followed by a loss of power, i limped into Tesco and had a look under the bonnet, but i couldn't see anything wrong, all fluids are ok and she rev's up perfectly in park, no clouds of smoke, i got me veg and headed for home, the beast is definetely down on power and appears to be making what i would describe as a "wooshing" noise this only seems to happen under load, i can't find anything wrong, i'm thinking auto box or turbo but i'm not sure how to test either? all suggestions gratefully received, its a 96 2.5 dse

I'd follow the pipes out from the turbo. Have any pipes popped off? I'd expect lots of black smoke out the back if you floor it though.

As Grrrrrr said turbo pipes would be first on check list if its down on power and making a whooshing noise, hose split , popped off or intercooler split
get some one to rev it up while you look under bonnet should be easy to spot.
