Hi all,

Relatively new to Landys but my Defender Puma had a transfer box replacement a few weeks ago, and whilst topping up the gearbox oil I spotted this loose cable attached to the box at one end and loose on the passenger side of the gearbox at the other, and wondered whether someone’s not remembered to reconnect it after…
Thanks for your help!

Throw up some pictures as it may help. I am not familiar with the new gearboxes. But the older ones had a couple of small earth cables for the difflock switch’s etc. and also has reverse switch wiring as well.

Sorry - was having trouble uploading a photo...

It's a breather tube for sure.
I'd guess back axle.
The transfer and gear boxes tubes run through the tunnel end up behind the engine on the bulkhead.

Thanks for your help. That would make sense. Any idea where the free end is supposed to be? Seems like it should be vertical somewhere?

Again I’m familiar with the older models but on them the gearbox ones come up behind the engine. And the axle ones just go up into the bodywork. I have all mine extended to the top of the snorkel so has been a long time since factory. Just put it up as high as it will go into a Position that is vaguely protected.
